We organized a student competition for Pfizer Hungary to design tools for those who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis. The competition was a great success and Pfizer Hungary ordered 1500 pieces from the winning design.

The brief was about developing a tool for those who suffer from rheumatoid arthritis (a disease which may result in deformed and painful joints and can cause a loss of function). The purpose of the tool was to make the use of everyday household items like cutlery, vacuum cleaners, keys or screw cap openers easier. During the design process we interviewed and observed people with rheumatoid arthritis, asked doctors to hold presentations and produced several prototypes.
Our final product was a toolkit that consists of an universal handle and three different heads. One head transforms the pinch grip used for tools such as knives, vacuum cleaners and such to a more comfortable and safer hook grip. The second head can be fixed on walls as a safety grip where needed and the third helps open screw caps of any size.
